Anticipated Motion

Anticipated Motion
In this painting it shows a woman dancing. So movement is being shown on a two dimensional surface.
Anticipated Motion: The implication of movement on a two dimensional surface.
Lawson, Justin. "130 Justin Lawson." : Anticipated Motion. N.p., n.d. Web. 26 Aug. 2012. <http://justinlawson130.blogspot.com/2011/05/anticipated-motion.html>.

Ways to suggest motion

Figure Cropped
By cropping the image it makes the image appear to be moving out of frame.
Personal photography by Kayla Davis. 14 Aug 2012.

Figure Repeating
Figure Repeating is one of the three different ways to show motion.
Klein, Kristen O'gorman. "50 New Must-Have Photos with Your Groom." Wedding Planning, Ideas & Etiquette. N.p., n.d. Web. 26 Aug. 2012. <http://www.bridalguide.com/planning/planning-basics/new-must-have-wedding-photos>.

Blurred Outlines

Blurred outlines are in many different action photos to show that the figure or person is in motion.

Multiple Perspectives

Multiple Perspectives
I used the Austin skyline because there are points of view from the cars in the street, the buildings, and the parking garage that i took this picture in.
Multiple Perspectives: An object or picture that incorporates several points of view.
Personal photography by Megan Davis. 14 April 2012.

Amplified Perspective

Amplified Perspective
This street sign represents amplified perspective well because it makes the sign appear to be the size of the building in the background, thus creating an illusion.
Amplified Perspective: A dramatic illusion created when when one object is pointed directly at the viewer.
Personal photography by Megan Davis. 20 December 2011.

Transparency

Transparency

Transparency: When an object allows light  to pass through it. This shirt is an excellent example of that. Its a sheer fabric so it is see through.

Tactile Texture

Tactile Texture

I used a picture of a shag rug because it is specifically made for the way it feels and looks.
Tactile Texture: Actual materials to create a surface that can actually be felt or touched.

Abstraction and Pure forms

Abstraction
This picture is distorted a little but since you can tell that there are flowers on this painting that is what makes is Abstraction.
Abstraction: Simple kind of distortion.
Novikova, Svetlana. "Vibrant Abstract Flowers." Redbubble. N.p., n.d. Web. 22 Aug. 2012. <http://www.redbubble.com/people/novikova-art/works/6483007-vibrant-abstract-flowers-painting>.

Non-Objective Shape/ Pure Form

NIKE logo is perfect for this because its not recognizable as any shape, and it portrays a different meaning than a check mark.
Pure Form or Non-Objective Shape: Do not originate in any recognizable shape or object.
NIKE. "NIKE Swoosh Decal / Sticker / DECALS BAY." NIKE Swoosh Decal / Sticker / DECALS BAY. NIKE, n.d. Web. 22 Aug. 2012. <http://www.decalsbay.com/index.php/nike-swoosh-logo-decal-sticker.html>.

Naturalism and Distortion

Naturalism
This photo represents naturalism because it is a painting of nature and has a very accurate way of showing the forrest.
Naturalism: Self-evident, and a style based on accurate depiction of detail.
Shishikin, Ivan I. "We English » Blog Archive » THIS MEAGRE NATURE – ROMANTICISM VS BEAUTY." We English » Blog Archive » THIS MEAGRE NATURE – ROMANTICISM VS BEAUTY. N.p., 1898. Web. 22 Aug. 2012. <http://we-english.co.uk/blog/?p=954>.

Distortion
This picture represents distortion perfectly. its the reflection of buildings on another building but since its tiled it makes the buildings appear distorted.
Distortion: Exaggeration of shapes.

Outline

Outline

In the drawing of the sunflower outlining is present. Without outline you wouldn't be able to see a picture and in this one its very distinct and bold.
Outline: Set of lines inclosing a shape, picture or design.

Maggggie, Marlene. "Painted Sunflower." Flickr. Yahoo!, 02 Sept. 2009. Web. 19 Aug. 2012. <http://www.flickr.com/photos/33874216@N05/3883020546>.

Actual, Implied, and psychic lines

Actual Lines

In this picture the dress shows lines that are present in the design, which makes them actual lines

Actual Line: Lines that are physically present in a design.
Marie, Areanna. "Lines." Pinterest. Areanna Marie, 5 Aug. 2012. Web. 19 Aug. 2012. <http://pinterest.com/pin/186477240791662169/>.
Implied Lines

Implied Line: A line that isn't physically there but is suggested by things in a design or in artwork.
A dotted line is a perfect example of an implied line because even though it may not look like a line each dot implies that they connect together and make a line
"Google Images." Google Images. Ed. Macromedia. Adobe Systems Incorporated, 2012. Web. 19 Aug. 2012. <http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1>.
Psychic Lines
Psychic Line: Not an actual line, and it doesnt have actual points, but the human mind sees an imaginary line and follows the Psychic line.
The little girl pointing is perfect for the Psychic lines because even though there is no line our eyes will follow her arm to see what she is pointing at.

A point set in motion

A point in motion-Sparklers

For a point set in motion i used a picture of sparklers being waved through the air because it creates the image of lines through motion and light.

A POINT SET IN MOTION: If you put a point in motion, which is said to have no dimensions (neither height or width), by putting it in motion you have created the first dimension, line.
Cantrell, Kirsten L. "Kirsten Can." : Still Resting Sparklers. Type Pad, 05 July 2010. Web. 19 Aug. 2012. <http://kirstencan.typepad.com/kirstencan/2010/07/still-resting-sparklers.html>.
